Easy Pear Tart recipe
Ingredients:
1 ½ homemade or prepared puff pastry sheets.
1 medium egg, lightly beaten with 1 teaspoon of water, for glaze.
2 ripe pears, halved, peeled and cored.
2 tablespoons of sugar.
1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
1 teaspoon of nutmeg.
Caramel sauce, for serving.
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
Roll out 1 sheet of puff pastry into a rectangle about 8 x 5 inches.
Cut ½ sheet puff pastry into 4 ½-inch strips to use as borders.
Brush the edges of pastry sheet with the egg wash and attach strips.
Use a fork to prick bottom of shell, but do not prick the borders.
Place on baking sheet.
Cut the pears lengthways through bottom of pear half, leaving them attached at the stem end.
Press the pears lightly to fan.
Using a spatula, transfer the pear halves to top of puff pastry shell.
Sprinkle with the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Brush top of borders with the remaining egg wash, making sure not to let it drip over the sides.
Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the pears are tender and borders are puffed and golden-brown.
Serve warm, drizzled with caramel sauce.
